Weekend Bliss

Saturday we spent the majority of the day running around doing errands. Jerad gave Marshall and I the lovely cold he picked up so I decided to get a humidifier. How cute is this little guy?

Marshall chilled in the backyard while I hung up the diaper laundry.

When it finally cooled off in the evening, we spread a blanket out and played on the grass.

How adorable are these little toes????

Sunday, we all slept in until after 9. Amazing! Jerad decided to whip up some grilled peaches and oat pancakes and fresh squeezed OJ while Marshall and I went to the sore to pick up some syrup. I didn't think we'd have enough time to walk there and back before breakfast was done so I drove there, then stuck him in the Ergo and walked back. He loves taking walks:

When we got back, Marsh took a nap and Jerad and I feasted on this homemade yummy-ness:

After breakfast we got Marshall all dressed up for a day with Daddy and the boys:
Then we went to get my car and found this:

AWESOME.

While Jerad and Marshall had boy time (fishing in Cayucos), I went to a cafe to read and sip an iced latte, thrift store shopping where I bought a ton of frames that I'm going to hopefully transform into something beautiful, cleaned the front of the house, mopped and dusted. Then I took a cat nap. It was so relaxing to have some alone time! For dinner we bbq'd fish.

Then a miracle happened. Marshall went to sleep at 6:30 and slept until 3am! Poor little guy. Having uninterrupted sleep is nice, but I can't go that long without pumping so I'm hoping it doesn't become the new thing.

A few more of baby's "first's"

I've been so busy trying to soak up every minute of not working full time (I go back next week! wah wah waaaaaaa) that I haven't been doing very well at updating. Here's a few things we've been up to over the summer:

We rented an electric boat, packed a picnic lunch, and boated around Morro Bay. First boat ride at 5 weeks:

At 10 weeks we went to the lavendar festival. Mommy looooooooves her some lavender!

At 12 weeks we took my littlest sister and our dog Buddy with us for baby's first lake trip:

He didn't seem to care one way or the other about the water, but he enjoyed sleeping on mommy in the shade:

At 13 weeks Marshall went to his first concert in the park. Moomy and Daddy go to a lot of concerts, so we're hoping he loves music too:

Oh Dear.

how adorable is this collection???

I love Janie and Jack stuff... just not so hot on the prices:) Baby clothes should not cost more than big people clothes. They're like 1/10 the size so clearly they should be 1/10 the cost right? Hence why I always buy baby stuff at consignment stores.

That said I'm totally buying the little coyboy hat. Just not this week, Jerad and I are doing a "no spend challenge" and I'm determined to win not to cheat :)

How to chomp on your fist, step by step.

Step 1: Mentally prepare by staring at fist for a few minutes

Step 2: Slowly and deliberately pull fist towards mouth

Step 3: Happily chomp away!

Step 4: Shove fist too far in mouth and get pissed about it

Step 5: lather, rinse, repeat.

Baby's first wedding

2 weeks ago Jerad had the honor of being the best man in his bff Travis's wedding. We drove up Thursday evening. Marshall was excited to go meet Travis and his soon to be wife Stephanie:

He only woke up once in the 4.5 hours it took us to get there. Travis and Steph were nice enough to let us stay at their apartment. With a baby. Now that's a true friend:)

Luckily Marshall was a dream and didn't keep anyone awake.

It was a beautiful wedding and the weather was perfect.

Did I mention what beautiful boys I have?

Srsly, look at this little guy:

Such the charmer:)

Jerad took my keyes with him to work

Awesome. While I wait for him to bring them back so *I* can get to work, here's a little cuteness:

Have a good day!

What we've been up to lately...

After having an emergency surgery for my abscesses, I got mastitis again. The other side this time. Not so much fun. I woke up last Friday feeling the tiniest bit nauseous and with a sore boob. I chalked the feeling icky up to not having eaten yet, and the sore boob to me just having bad boob luck and went on with my day. I had a few errands to run in SLO and decided on a whim to call the lactation consultant and see if she'd see me. Luckily they got me right in. She automatically diagnosed me with Mastitis and a Bleb and so I got to start ANOTHER course of antibiotics. At least we caught it quickly this time! My new orders are to basically come in if I feel the slightest bit sore or weird since I don't get very severe symptoms. I asked if I was going to keep getting mastitis every few weeks and she assured me that wouldn't be the case.

I went on my happy way to recovery and then Marshall got Thrush. Probably from all of the antibiotics. I can tell how bad his poor little mouth is hurting him because he's been extra fussy. He also has a purple mouth/face from the gentian violet treatment:)

I get to treat my nipps with the violet stuff too. Everyone at my job thinks I'm insane for still breastfeeding. Honestly, quitting hasn't crossed my mind. I feel like I've gone through so much crap and problems it would be awful to quit now. What else can go wrong right? *knock on wood*

I've been back at work for 2 weeks now. I can honestly say that I'm enjoying it. I'm just working 1/2 shifts (for 8 weeks!) so 5 hours, Mon-Thurs. My mom is watching Marshall so I don't have to worry about him and 5 hours is just enough time for me to feel productive, have some "me" time, yet not go into baby withdrawls.

In Marshall news, as of last Wednesday he was up to 12 lbs and 11 oz. I think the thrush/pain in his mouth slowed down his weight gain. He has been gaining around 10-11oz a week and last week it was "only" 4 :)

He is loving his mobiles now and besides staring and cooing at them, he now tries to bat at them as well.

Most days he will happily stare at the mobile in his crib for 10-20 minutes which is an ETERNITY in baby time.

I can actually get something done! I'm lovin it.

He is also still loving his baths. Tummy tub, big bathtub, sink, even the shower. If there's water, he's happy.

Naps are getting better too. His favorite place to sleep is still in our arms or snuggled against us but he is getting more tolerant of sleeping by himself too. Normally in the morning I can get him to nap alone in our bed while I shower and get ready.

At least once a day we take a walk and he'll usually stay passed out in the stroller for awhile after we get back too.

He's fitting into a lot of his bigger clothes now. 0-3 months or 3-6 months depending on the brand, and even a few 6 month outfits! This is currently our favorite outfit (from his Aunt Kanda):

Its a onesie that says "baby in black - Johnny Cash" and then a John Deere cap. I'm trying not to dress him in it every day but its hard not to:)

Luckily the hat is cute with everything... like 4th of July outfits!

He's such a little Jerad...

Rockin' one of daddy's baby outfits

This cute little thing was Jerad's when he was a baby. I love how the older clothes actually have room for fluffy cloth diaper butts!

While I was trying to take pictures I found a new way to keep Marshall happy; let him lay on the nursery floor and stare at the black dresser:

He was so excited about it that he promptly wore himself to sleep. I'll take baby naps anyway I can get them:)
