Second Thoughts

Hmmm, so now that I ordered the new medicine cabinet, I of course found another one that is cheaper and has matching furniture.

I LOVE distressed furniture! And I think it would break up all the white that's going to be in there... and one of these little cabinets could go in there too... which means more surface space to decorate... ahh what to do what to do?

Which do YOU like better? Two of those, or this one:
Keep in mind the bathroom will be looking sort of like this:
Except the wall with the sink does not have nearly that much room. The wall opposite Jerad built a 10'' alcove were the toilet goes and he is building 3 shelves into it up high for towels and such. The one cabinet would even fit over the toilet (it is 26" wide and the alcove is 36") and only stick out 2" past the wall.

The 1/2 wall of beadboard you see will be painted white, with the drywall above it green to match the opposite wall. The taller skinnier cabinet could fit between the door and toilet where the wall juts out, or on the wall down from the toilet and outside of the shower like I did in the other bathroom:

Either cabinet could fit there. Ahhh I don't know. I don't have to get a cabinet either(it would be more floor space if I didn't and less to dust cause Lord knows I will decorate the top of it)... I could just get the cheaper medicine cabinet. Or keep the one that is on order. Then again, storage space is always nice, and besides the few shelves Jerad is building there is none at all.

Feedback people!

Finishing Touches...

AKA I'm a Shopaholic nowadays.

New curtains ordered and shipped for the laundry room:

Medicine cabinet on order for the bathroom:

New file cabinet ordered and shipped for the office:

Slightly excited. The curtains will be perfect for the country theme. I got a white rolling shade to go on the window over the laundry room sink
and then the curtain will go over the shade. The picture cuts off the window, that is just the bottom half.
Then the second curtain (or balloon shade if you want to be technical) will go on the door:
So now I can run around in my underwear to my heart's content without giving all the neighbors a peep show.

The beadboard on the medicine cabinet will match perfectly with the bathroom as well. Which it should, it took me three hours to find the perfect medicine cabinet. Cause I'm weird like that. We sold our big (fake) cherry wood file cabinet in the garage sale and have been meaning to get a white one to match the computer desk I got a few months ago so in the meantime it has just been a huge mess in there. Having drawers and a place to put files will be a huge help.

And I love getting things in the mail.

Slightly Excited...

For the last few months I have been looking high and low for new patio furniture. Well, I shouldn't say "new," because there isn't any "old" that we are replacing... we have just needed patio furniture in general. Well, it turns out that stuff is freakin expensive! Oh, and if you would like cushions too? Forget about it.

Finally I had it narrowed down to some really cute Better Homes and Garden's stuff that I found at the Walmart of all places. And fyi, I always call it "the Walmart" not just "Walmart." Jerad says its the redneck in me trying to get out.

Anyways, the plan was to get the stuff after the new fence was finished and the dog area done and have a beautimous back yard by my b-day. Well we were at (the) Walmart narrowing down for sure what I wanted and making sure the stuff I picked out online was actually comfortable and durable, and didn't look cheap and Jerad liked it too.

When we got there everything was marked off more than 50% of the price that I had already decided we could afford. So... I got way more stuff than I was planning on. We decided to just get it now and then not put it together later in case they ran out or weren't going to carry it anymore since the prices were being "Rolled Back" so drastically.

This is what we ended up with:

Table with glass top, 4 chairs and cushions... $197 instead of $498

Umbrella, $80 instead of $168 (fits through table)
We also got the stand on sale, I don't remember for how much... the umbrella tilts too.

Conversation set with cushions and glass top, $247 instead of $400

We also got a swing similar to this, but with different cushions. The top cushion is one piece (I think) and doesn't dip down like this one. It isn't from the same collection as the table and chairs and conversation set, but it still matches fine.

What I love most is the 2 little drink tables, cause that's just important.

I can not WAIT until I get the back deck stained, the lawn patched, new fence built and then we can set up everything and P-A-R-T-Y. Yessssssssss.

There are a few more pieces I want to get later if they still have them:

I like this one because I could use is to set appetizers or something like that on, and obviously wine and glasses. When we weren't entertaining, perfect for potted plants on the other shelves!

Pretty much the same idea with this, or people could also eat at it...

Besides using it as a bar, I could stack things on the shelves and not have to make a million trips into the house during a party...

I really love this and it isn't even $50...

There is absolutely no reason I need this screen except that it matches and I like it. And if I got the bar, It would look really cute against the fence behind the bar.

Well, there is my new patio plans. We went from years and years or no patio furniture to ALOT really fast. Thanks garage sale and new friday daycare job! I am so excited though, the weather is so nice where we live, there are only a few months out of the year where we can't eat outside and its hard to entertain in our house cause its from the era of breakfast nooks and no dining rooms... so we have to either set up extra tables in the middle of the kitchen, or eat in the living room. This will be sooo much better.

And there was much rejoicing...

Do do do doooooo (that was a trumpet)....

In local news: I found my memory card adapter!!!! So, pics coming soon.

In bad news: I left my camera at Beth's house today... so not too soon.

In financial news: After having the same TV for 8 years, I am ready to upgrade. We are looking at 40 inch LCDs. Also, next week I am getting this new couch:
Why do you care? Let me tell you... now when you come over to watch the new TV, you will actually have a place to sit. Its all just a ploy for more friends hehe.

In other news: Jerad and I went to Walmart tonight to look at TV's and he decided he wanted to get some cereal. All the cereals he was picking out were preserved with BHT. I pointed out to him that we buy our dogs special freakin expensive dog food so that THEY didn't have to consume BHT. It has been shown to cause liver and kidney dysfunction and is banned in many European countries. He said that he wasn't a dog. I rolled my eyes and asked why he didn't just eat my Kashi. He said that it tasted like poop.

I thought about it and decided I might choose kidney dysfunction over eating poop too. In the end he went with Cheerios which didn't have BHT at least...

And new bedroom too

While the boys were working in the yard on Sunday, I redecorated our bedroom. I found the cutest bed set at Target for 50% off, so it was only $49.98!

I also got these two cute signs (I am such a sucker for wall art) and I had these two frames in the basement.

I flipped the bed back to where we had it when we first moved in and changed the curtains.

Before:
After:
I also found these pics from right before our house warming party before we had hung shelves and stained the dresser purple:

Somewhere in between those pics and the "before" pic everything was also hot pink. What can I say, I like redecorating:)

Oh, and this was how it looked when we first went to look at the house to buy. They were real minimalists for a couple with two kids.

My new yard

As I mentioned last week, I have been really looking forward to re-landscaping the front yard. It finally happened over the weekend!

Saturday the plan was to get up in time to be at Home Depot by 6AM when they get their sod delivery so we could get some before they sell out. Well, I woke up at 5:53 and I guess the alarm never went off. We quickly decided that Jerad would just go by himself. Of COURSE his truck wouldn't start. Great. So, there I am, out in the yard in my pj's in the 30 something degree weather at 6AM driving my car onto our lawn trying to get his truck jump started. No dice. Turns out he needs a new battery.

I had been looking forward to re vamping the yard soo much that I didn't care we didn't make any other Valentines plans and had turned down numerous invitations to do something FUN over the weekend. So, I had a little melt-down pity party and went back to bed. In the 5 minutes or so I sat in bed sniffling to myself that the ONE free weekend we had in the next few months that we could actually do it in was going to be wasted, Jerad had already called Home Depot, arranged for them to hold some sod, and rented a truck to pick it up. My hero.

While I took a shower, he picked up the 320 sq. ft of sod.

After unloading it, we went out to breakfast and I had world's best waffle.
Then we went to the nursery to pick up flowers. Apparently they have a lot of break-ins because... well, you can see for yourself:
The rest of the day we dug up the plants and got all the supplies that we would need for the following day.
The dogs were very interested on what was happening to "their" yard

Sunday morning I made a big breakfast and Joey came over to help out

They extended the lawn about 4 feet in the front and pushed it all the way up to the house and porch

you can also see where they added the pavers by the front steps co we could put some potted hedges in. As they grow we will trim them to that they are more like columns.

After the sod was all put in, Joey went home. They added a little over 300 sq. ft. to the yard. its hard to tell from the pics but it looks MUCH bigger now.

And I cleaned up as much dirt as I could while Jerad built the window box

It took AWHILE.
Monday after work I stained the window box and Jerad worked on finishing the sprinklers and patching some dog holes in the back yard with the sod scraps. He also added the left over sod under the tree that is in our driveway where he hung my hammock swing last summer.

We still have a little more work to do on the paver path, and there are some more sprinklers to install. Tonight I will try to varnish the window box then we can plant the tulips that I got in it and attach it to the house. I'll post pictures as soon as it is finished, but for now here it is before:
