As a side note, Marshall apparently shares his parents love for spicy food and was a big fan of sucking salsa off of chips. He also loves chile verde like his mama!
When lunch was over me and Marshall took a little nap and Jerad replaced our reverse osmosis system. Now the water won't taste like soft water and I can stop spending so much on bottled water. Win-win.
After nap time was over we loaded up and headed to Pismo Beach to check out the monarch butterflies. Neither one of us had seen them before, it was insane!
See all those brown leafy looking clumps? They are huge clusters of butterflies. Cray-zay.
Then it was time for the beach. I don't know what to say about the next pic except look at my handsome little man in his carseat:
The beach was beautiful. I love that we live in a place where you can go to the beach. In January. In shorts.
At first Marshall didn't know what to make of the sand:
So daddy showed him what to do:
He picked it right up:
And that is how the sand obsession began. First digging and feeling was enough:
But after awhile that got boring and it was time to sneak a taste:
(yes we are bad parents that let our child eat sand. And dirt. And as long as we're talking about it; leaves and sticks.)
I guess it didn't taste very good:
However, it didn't take long to try it again:
Hmmmm.
The swings were almost as fun and didn't involve eating any sand, so we did that for awhile:
A few hours later we headed home so Marshall could take a nap. Except he refused. We both took turns laying with him but he just wanted to crawl on us and laugh hysterically. Hmmm. After awhile we gave up and went in the living room where Marshall proceeded to pull himself up into a standing position. Apparently that wasn't a big enough milestone because while I was still trying to process the fact that he was Standing By Himself, he walked the length of the couch (while holding on... I think they call it "cruising?")
Anyways, no idea where THAT came from. He's only been crawling for a few weeks and we're still getting used to that. I swear... he better not walk soon. What happened to my little baby?!? Ugh.
In other news, after the last snafu I had trying to order something with my credit card points, I tried again and this little gem arrived:
I always thought Roombas were kind of lame. Who needs a "robot" to vacuum? Then we moved to a house with all wood floors. And 3 large dogs and a cat that all shed. And had a baby. I try to vacuum every day, and always vacuum at least every other day. The entire house. Wooden flooring has a way of sucking all the dirt/hair/dust to the corners, under the furniture, and into the closets. Kiiiind of a pain in the ass. This little guy goes under all the furniture and I am now a convert. It takes a long time. Like 30 minutes per room. Then again I don't have to do any of the work so what do I care if it takes a long time?
So far it seems like it does a really good job. I doubt I'm free from ever having to vacuum again, but maybe I can use this every day and then just have to vacuum once a week like normal people do. Plus it makes really cute sounds and makes me feel fancy. Like I have a robot maid. Jerad calls it "Roombie." I have a feeling Roombie is my new best friend. I need a few more points to be able to get its brother "Scoobie." Then I can just sit on the couch and eat bon bons all day right?
So far I haven't found something that dusts, cleans windows, blinds, and washes laundry so I guess no bon bons for at least awhile.
