Such a Shitty Day

So, usually I try to put an optimistic spin on things, but really today has just been baaaaad.

I haven't had time to write about this yet, but Miller has completely refused to nurse anymore so I am now exclusively pumping so that he can continue to have breast-milk. In addition to that lovely little development he also has food allergies that we can't figure out so for the past few months he has had horrible itchy hives that range from just slightly pathetic to full on burn victim looking.

That's just some backstory so that I can explain why today has been so sucky.

Last night I went to bed late because I was waiting for the dryer to finish because I was washing and changing all of our sheets/blankets/comforter. Usually I do that on Friday but the kids have been sickish, then I went out with a girlfriend to dinner and a haunted house thing Saturday night so I got a late start. Normally I do the sheets weekly, then the blankets and comforter once a month. It was time to do them all. Since we now have a king sized bed I can't fit everything in one load and it takes forever. Finally everything was done and I fell asleep on nice clean sheets. Then, it took me three hours to fall asleep after my 2:30am pumping session. No idea why... I just laid there tossing and turning until about 5:30. At 6am Miller woke up so Jerad brought him in our bed and gave him a bottle. He drank it then was being incredibly cute, laughing and bouncing all around... which caused him to barf all 6 ounces back up all over the newly washed sheets/blankets/comforter and all in my hair. He then promptly went back to sleep.

Since I was already so exhausted I decided the best course of action was to throw towels over the sheets, wrap another one around my hair, then go back to sleep. Not my finest moment but there you go.

Jerad let me sleep in which was amazing, but then when I woke up we were in a mad rush to re-wash everything and get out the door to the Santa Margarita Giddy Up Roundup train day. We got there and the kids were having a pretty god time until Miller somehow got a bite of the Kettle Corn treat Marshall was eating. He almost immediately stared breaking out in new hives on his face and body and was a hot, itchy, grumpy mess and fussed most of the rest o the time we were there.

When we got home neither kid wanted to nap but I put Marshall in his room to play so that I could get the next round of laundry going. He then had diarrhea accident (damn you kettle corn, I should have known better!) that was intense enough that we contemplated just ripping out the carpet and putting in new flooring. Instead Jerad cleaned it up as much as he could (oh how I love that man) and then rented a carpet cleaner tp make sure it was really clean.

Since we were already paying for the carpet cleaner we decided to do the rest of the house because the carpets are old and overdue for a cleaning and.... 6 hours later Jerad is still working on it. I always forget how massive our house is until we do something like this. Ugh. Anyways, its almost 10pm and I JUST got Miller to sleep. He was too itchy and miserable and finally passed out from exhaustion. Now I just need to remake the bed and pack the 600 various bags we need for lunches/work/school/pumping/the nanny. Oi.

And of course... OF COURSE... we also are completely out of alcohol so there isn't even the option of sitting down with a glass of wine at the end of this craptastic day.

The light at the end of the tunnel is that the carpet is looking pretty good  and I got some cute pictures of the kids at the train thing (which I will post seperately so years from now when I look back I will hopefully not remember the rest of this day). Anyways... hope your day was better than mine!

Catching Up: Air Show and Crafting

Jerad took Marshall on a little boys trip to the Air Show. They met up with his friend Steve who Mars is obsessed with so it was a double reward. While they were watching the show, Marshall made a new friend. He was apparently hugging him and talking and talking.

After the show it was time to check out some of the planes:

I love how scandalized he looks in the next shot:

The highlight of the afternoon was when they all went on a 20 minute helicopter ride! Marshall LOVED it and still talks about going "way upinda SKYYYYYY."

Meanwhile since I only had Mills, I was able to work on and finish up some craft projects! Lucky for me they were gone 6 hours and Miller took a long nap:)

I painted the door red, spray painted the handle Oil Rubbed Bronzed, and added a "Welcome" message. I thought it would be a quick project but it ended up being a HUGE PITA. Oh well, I like it now that it's finished. I also re-did some landscaping, and salvaged and repainted an old milk crate from our backyard, hung some chalkboards Jerad make, and made a few wooden signs. Some of these projects I had already started but I finally had time to finish them.

Love this Pinterest inspired sign! It's big. About 3ft square.

And this one for above the mantle:

I'm not happy with the spacing and placement of the words but still... its cute. Now I just need to finish the mantle!

Catching Up: Marshall's First Movie

A few Saturday's ago Marshall's nanny called and asked if she and her best friend could take him to see Finding Nemo in 3D. I almost said no because he had never been to the theater before and I wasn't sure if he'd sit through an entire movie, wasn't sure if he'd keep the glasses on, plus he had only been potty trained for like a week and I was a little stressed about that situation.

But I thought it was so incredibly sweet that they thought of him (and on a day off!) and knew that he loves Finding Nemo and that he'd have fun. So off they went!

They bought him special gluten free snacks (seriously we have the sweetest nanny ever)

He had SO MUCH FUN and was talking about it for days. He also didn't have any accidents, happily sat through the entire movie, and kept the glasses on the whole time as well. Gah, he's getting so big!

Catching Up: Wedding

Occasionally Jerad and I manage to get out of the house sans children. A few months ago we went to a spur of the moment wedding. Well, the wedding wasn't spur of the moment... us attending it was. The groom was my brother in law's fiance's brother (say that 5 times fast?) and it was a beautiful wedding!

The next one is a picture of Jerad dancing with the groom for the money dance. Not at all awkward...

Catching Up: "Camping"

We've been meaning to take the kids camping all summer. Then we decided that it was probably a far stretch to think that we'd actually have very much fun with a crawling baby, rambunctious toddler, and 3 dogs. So, for this year Jerad opted to take Marshall "camping" in the yard instead. They set up a tent, bbq'd and ate outside, and played with flashlights until Marshall finally passed out around midnight.

Marshall had so much fun that instead of taking the tent down, we moved it into our front living room for a week.

They both thought this was The Most Awesomest Thing Ever.

By the end of the week there was furniture and blankets in there and Marshall was begging for "breakfast in the tent." If they were awake, they wanted to be in the tent.

I probably would have left it up longer, but even though its our smallest tent, it takes up a serious amount of space. That's a queen size air-mattress and a pretty big chair in there.

It didn't take Marshall long to teach Miller to climb from the ground, to the air mattress, to the chair, then turn around and fling himself back on the mattress to bounce.

They seriously loved this! I'll probably bring it back out when it gets rainy and hard to keep them occupied inside.

Catching Up: Waterslides

Jerad's parents invited us back to his mom's company party at local water slide park. Crazy that last year I was huge and preggo and this year I had a rambunctious 9 month old!

I didn't get very many pictures because I was busy 1) making sure the kids didn't drown, and 2) having fun myself:) But here's a few:

In the afternoon I took Miller home for a nap since our house is literally 5 minutes away. I left Marshall there because he is at the point where he can miss a nap without the world falling to pieces and I was sure he'd be happier staying and playing with daddy. Apparently he fell asleep in the lazy river for over an hour. Silly.

We tried to get a picture of both of them, but it didn't work out very well:

Such a fun way to end the summer!
