Winter Vacation

For our annual snow trip, this year we decided to forgo Yosemite and head up to Arnold for a change. We seriously considered doing the usual tent camping in the snow but figured the dogs would wake up the baby and vice versa all night long and it wouldn't be much of a "vacation."

Because it was a 6 hour drive and supposed to snow, we planned on loading up and leaving at 6. However, I'm neurotic and always have to clean the bathrooms, floors, laundry, fridge, whatever you can think of before we leave for a trip so we didn't leave until almost 8.

We stopped twice on the 6 hour drive. Once to feed the baby and let the dogs out, and once to eat.

Marshall did great on the ride there, sleeping most of the time. Finally we got to our cute little cabin. It had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a loft with more beds.

Here's the fleece suit I ordered on ebay thinking it was red... whoops, totally pink.

The dogs very much preferred the cabin to the usual tent camping. They did lots of this:

Dinner the first night; cous cous and chickpea salad, grilled chicken, and a cucumber parsley salad:

The next day we ventured outside:

What you see behind me is our driveway. There was a lot of snow!

We made a trip to the store and this is what we got to drive through:

But after it stopped snowing (8 inches I believe), it was really beautiful:

We lied low and relaxed, watched TV, read books, cooked yummy food, snuggled with the dogs and Marshall, it was a dream vacation! The third day Jerad's parents, brother, and my littlest sister joined us. There was lots of playing in the snow:

And lots of new cute pictures of Marshall:

How adorable is that hat? His grandma Lucy knitted it while we were there.

We had such a great time and I can't wait to do it again next year!
