What we did this weekend

I've been so excited for Marshall to be old enough to help with "you pick" berries this year! Saturday morning we got up and had the kids all ready, drove to a local pesticide free berry farm...

 And waited at the gate for 30 minutes before finally getting a hold of someone to tell us that they decided to take the weekend off. Awesome. Marshall was all excited and I'd really built up "picking berries" so he was pretty devastated. We decided to stop at the park by our house and the soccer fields all had the sprinklers on!


Toddler heaven. We'll probably make this a weekly thing we do. Its right by our house, convenient in regards to naptimes, and 45 minutes of free fun.

The all black berry picking clothes quickly became soaked. I hadn't brought any spares, so we stripped him down:


Threw on a shirt I found in the car, then borrowed the pants Miller was wearing. They fit Marshall like cute little capris (is there a "boy" equivelent of capri pants?)


Then we headed over to the park for awhile.



Once Marshall started zoning out for long periods of time we knew we should head home

While the boys napped Jerad worked on our built in (supposedly it will be done someday. preferably before we sell the house), and I meal planned and made our weekly shopping list.
 

When they woke up we went and visited Jerad's family for awhile and I snuck out to Trader Joes. That night I made these cookies out of garbanzo beans and sunflower butter. SO YUMMY!


Sunday morning I made Marshall's "Jamba." Spinach, greek yogurt, almond butter, garbanzo beans, 1/2 apple with seeds, a beet, and some frozen berries:



Then he reciprocated the favor by making my coffee:


Jerad made us all breakfast:


We had been planning on going to church in the park with Jerad's cousins, but we were feeling lazy and the kids napped early. While they were napping an electrition that Jerad has been working with came by and gave us some free passes to check out the Paso Tennis and Swim Club. Yes please! I packed some snacks for Marshall:

Then headed to the pool! The kids both loved it. Miller just hung out on a towel:


But Marshall dove right in.

2 year old ramblings

Today was a loooong day. I worked 10.5 hours and my mom watched the kids. Since she's teaching full time now she hasn't watched them both for more than 2 or 3 hours at a time since Miller has been born. Now that its summer she's going to watch them 2 days a week. One of my long and one of my short shifts.

It was hard on everyone. I was stressing out that the kids wouldn't nap and would be basket cases and drive my mom up the wall. Or Miller would fall off her bed like Marshall did. They all did fine. Except Miller only drank 4 ounces of milk in a 12 hour period (usually its like 16-20) so that means he'll probably wake up to nurse once an hour all night.

Where was I going with this?

Oh, right. Anyways. Long day. The kids were both grumpy from being on "good behavior" for grandma all day. Jerad is working late so it was just me to pick them up and deal with dinner and baths. By 7:15 I was fried so I put Marshall in bed a little early.

He wasn't that sleepy so he's been in his room talking and I can hear him over the monitor and boy is he a hoot. Here's what he's saying:

"Flying in the plane. Up in the sky. Lookout! Ohhhhhhh, tractor. Daddy's driving the tractor. Daddy's driving Marshall's special tractor. Make daddy move? Hi monkey. Whatcha doing there? Eat a cracker? Yucky cracker. Drink the tea? Okay! Lets go see uncle Lars! Go walk in the stroller. The red stroller? Okay. Marshall eating the hummus? Hummus and salsa. Yummy salsa. Don't put it in your hair! Keep it in your mouth. Mama. Mama reading. Reading the book. Cooking the food. And letters. ABD's. Count the ABD's: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15..... no. Use the spoon. Gonna see grampa and say "hi grandpa, whatcha doin' there?" Lookit the socks! 2 socks. Black socks. Go on the feet? No mouth. Not for Miller's mouth. Be gentle. No poking the eyes. Yucky bug. It bites you. Lets read the llama book! Mama's running up the stairs. Oh, its the blanket. Night night blanket. Night night tractor water. Turn the fan on? "

Photo Dump #3

One morning Marshall asked me for a "road" to play with for his tractors. I couldn't find any masking tape, but we had some scotch tape so I just stuck some on the ground. He played in the same spot for 45 minutes!







Jerad got off work early one day last week and the kids were going stir crazy so we threw them in the car and ended up at Heilman Park in Atascadero.






Miller usually wakes up as soon as the sun comes up at 5. I change his diaper, hand him a toy to occupy himself, then Jerad and I sleep for another 30 minutes or so.


The first thing Marshall does when he wakes up is run into our room and maul Miller with kisses


Another day last week Marshall fell asleep on the couch while I was making lunch. This hasn't happened EVER. Well, once he randomly fell asleep when he was 6 weeks old but I think that was the last time.


And Miller is just a cutie:

Photo Dump #2

It turns out I had a lot of pictures on my phone. So I'll break it up into a few posts.

Marshall and Miller were playing this adorable game where they sit in a laundry basket, and steal a pacifier back and forth then laugh and laugh about it:

I'm actually really proud of the next picture. The downstairs guestroom in our house had become sort of a catch-all crap room. It was easy to just throw stuff in there, close the door, and forget about it. Jerad also had a desk in there that he used as his home office and his filing system was basically "if its on a surface, its important, if its on the ground it's not and maybe I'll throw it away some day."

We have plans to replace the flooring, light fixture, add paneling to a wall and a few other things so I kept waiting to clean it up until we were going to remodel it. One day I needed to find a receipt in there and got so disgusted I decided to just see what I could clean and rearrange while the kids took their afternoon nap. They ended up taking a looong nap (3 hours) and I completely cleaned up the entire room:
No longer looks like it belongs on Hoarders! And there isn't even anything stuffed under the bed:)
