Seriously. "I'm tired." "We're busy." "I don't have time." My blogging (or lack thereof) excuses are like a broken record lately!
I really will buckle down and post some good updates... eventually:)
Jerad, Marshall and I got back from a 4 day mini-vacay in San Diego last night. We had a lot of fun!
I'm only telling you this next story because I'm mentioned before that we have never had any sort of poop accident around here. So after dinner and some play time I put on Marshall's nighttime diaper (nighttime = extra stuffing) and left him in his room to play for a bit. I decided to skip pj's because it was pretty warm in his room and thought he'd be more comfortable. Usually he plays with his books and toys for 30 minutes or so, then lays down on his bed and goes right to sleep. I fold laundry or clean the bathroom or do something close by so I can hear if he cries or calls out and go to him, but 98% of the time he plays quietly then goes right to sleep.
15 minutes went by and I'd finished folding laundry and could still hear him thumping around. Another 15 and the bathroom was clean and he was "singing." I checked my emails and facebook for another 20 and could still hear him awake and playing so I decided to go check it out.
I could tell as soon as I opened the door that something was amiss.
Marshall crawled away giggling as soon as I walked in. There was a big spot of something in the middle of his rug. I went over to smell it (how else could I tell what it was?) and Marshall took that as an invitation to rub his hand in it and then proceed to put his hand in his mouth.
Yup, totally poop.
He had some crazy post-vacation blowout and because his cloth diaper was so stuffed it wasn't tight enough around his thigs to contain it, and wasn't wearing pj's so it leaked on to the floor whereever he sat down.
Since I'm so mature, I yelled for Jerad and let him deal with cleaning the baby and the diaper. Somehow with the pets he because the one that delt with poo issues so it only seemed fitting. I cleaned the carpet which was a fun task since I had to go through about 8 boxes before I even found the carpet cleaner. Btw, yet another reason why wood floors are superior... you don't have to repeatedly scrub them to get them clean.
Anyways, after 14 months we finally had to deal with a "gross baby thing" so I thought I'd mention it.
After Marshall was back in bed, we decided it was about time to do a little decorating. Usually I am hanging curtains and pictures before even unpacking the clothes, so its been weird living in the new house for a MONTH and not having done anything yet. Where is that second trimester energy?
We finally moved our dresser upstairs, and hung pictures and lights in the master bedroom. Now it sort of looks like people live there! Seriously, besides Jerad's dad painting 2 of the bedrooms we haven't done a thing. Its hard because I don't want to hang pictures until we finish painting (did I ever mention that the house had 12 different colors inside when we bought it? Now we're down to 10). We don't want to paint until we re-texture the walls from the builder grade texture to more of a skip trowel style. We also are still figuring out which walls we want to beadboard or board and batton. Don't even get me started on the yards. We only want to pay cash for all the renovating, so we're taking it slowly.
It'll come together... eventually... its just frustrating in the meantime because it doesn't really feel like "our" house. Oh well, eventually it will right? I'm sure my body will refuse to go into labor again until we've checked off all of our "to-do" items which means we have 6 months to make some progress.
