Preschool

Today was supposed to be Marshall's first day of preschool.

We toured an adorable little Montessori school near our home, and decided to enroll him. We follow a lot of Montessori principals around our house and have always planned on sending him to a Montessori preschool, and most likely elementary school as well. The place we checked out has a toddler program that starts at 18months (he's almost 28 months). Jerad and I both thought that he's old enough that he'll enjoy having time to spend with "friends" while we work and will be more stimulated doing the works at school than sitting at home with the Nanny. I love our nanny, and she has been watching Marshall since he was 4 months old. She started with one day a week while I worked, and over time has moved up to the full 4 days a week since my mom now works full time. He loves her and she's so sweet to him and Miller...

...but taking care of 2 kids so close in age and keeping them both engaged is demanding and I think Marshall will have more fun at "school." He is obsessed with letters, numbers, language, and artwork and just learning in general and while we're at work I really think he'll thrive at school.

So, Jerad, Marshall, Miller and I went and met the teachers and toured the facility last Friday. Marshall was so excited and kept talking about his "school" and "new friends." The program director was so sweet and friendly and also has a baby Miller's age. She assured us that Marshall would learn to take naps on a mat in a room with other toddlers (I'll believe that when I see it) and told us that he'll probably be excited to go on the first day, then the second day will be hard and there will be an adjustment period. Then she gave us a million forms to fill out and said "see ya Monday!"

The weekend flew by and last night I told Jerad I just needed one more week to mentally prepare before my BABY goes to "school." Even though its only three days a week (he'll go Mon, Tues, Thurs, stay home with Miller on Wed, then I'm off Fri-Sun).

Anyways, I bought myself one more week but I'm sure next Monday one of us will be bawling and I'm pretty sure it'll be me :)

When I started reading this I thought, "I can't believe Marshall had a hard time going to preschool!" But it was YOU! Haha. He'll do great when you're ok sending your baby to school. (;

right?!? I thought it'd be no big deal because I'm already used to being apart from him while I'm working and I KNOW he'll have fun... then I had a little mini meltdown and was like "first preschool, then kindergarten, then he's graduating highschool and moving away waaaaaaa!"

So hopefully I can snap out of it this week:)
