A few weeks ago we jutted off to San Diego for a little 4 day vacation. We hadn't been since Marshall was 7 weeks old. The trip down was great, we made it in about 5 hours and Marshall slept for most of the time... which was amazing because he NEVER sleeps in the car anymore.
All loaded up bright and early:
The hotel made a mistake with our reservation and accidentally gave us 2 queen size beds instead of a king like we'd asked for.
I love getting a king bed when we travel because its nice having so much room to sprawl out (we have a queen at home). Well, it turns out if you sleep in a queen ALL BY YOURSELF there is even more room. On the first night Marshall would only sleep in bed with us and was thrashing around so much I couldn't sleep... so I hopped over to the other bed and was in such bliss that we slept that way the rest of the trip. Because we're romantical like that.
We were really looking forward to some nice sunny San Diego weather, but for the first few days we were there it was overcast and only in the low 70's. We tried to hang out in the (unheated) pool but it was chilly:
Jerad refused to get in, and Marshall was... less than thrilled.
So we moved to the hot tub. Ahh, much better!
The next day we went to the San Diego Zoo Wild Animal Park:
We took their little 45 minute tram ride where they drive you around through a bunch of animal pastures. While we were waiting in line Marshall entertained everyone by "singing" at the top of his lungs:
On the tram:
After the tram ride we walked around for a few hours checking other exhibits out.
By some miracle of all miracles this happened:
Man, I can't even remember the last time Marshall fell asleep in a stroller! It was pretty roasty toasty so he was cruising around sans pants. We had a great time and hope to get away a few more times before the new baby comes.
