Dirtyyyyyyyyy

If you know me or have read my stuff for awhile you probably have a pretty good idea about how obsessive compulsive I am I like things clean. When I need extra $$ I do housekeeping for people. Its like getting paid to do something I love:) Normally, I keep my house pretty clean... with the way my schedule is for work and school and everything else right now it has been hard... The only time I have to really clean is in the middle of the night when I prefer to you know, sleep. Or, on weekends.

This kind of works out until I want a social life or something.... not to mention that it takes me FOREVER to scrub everything and I get distracted... I'll go to put away the sheets I washed and end up taking everything out of the linen closet and reorganizing it... or I will be cleaning the kitchen and decide that all the insides of the cupboards need to be cleaned out too. This is fine when the cleaning is all spread out, but when it is crammed into a day or two all it does is 1) make me frustrated because I constantly feel like I am playing "catch up" 2) makes my head spin around after spending 12 hours cleaning the house only for Jerad to come home and track dirt on my floor.

Jerad had the bright idea that I should hire a housekeeper. I think its just because it means he wouldn't be asked to help. At first I laughed at him and was like, um, I am a housekeeper dummy. Then I started thinking how nice it would be to pick up everything, and go out in the yard and work for a few hours and come back in my house smelling all windex and pinesol-y fresh (never mind that I don't use either of those, its my fantasy okay?). I'm not talking about having someone come once a week or anything, just like a one time, end of semester present to myself.

Then came the hard part--finding someone. I wanted someone who would do a good job, a deep cleaning. No feather dusters or mops. That eliminated most people right off the bat. Hello, if I am going to pay someone, it needs to be as good if not better than if I did it myself right? Otherwise I am just going to be mad and have to redo everything anyways. So, I started looking through Craigslist and sending emails describing my house, and what I was looking for, someone who would move furniture and clean under it, baseboards, clean the fridge and door seals, oven, any spots on walls or ceiling.

A bunch of people didn't respond. Then I got confused with the ones that did. If someone only charges $10-$15 an hour I find it really hard to believe they are going to be willing to really roll up their sleeves and scrub. Then, the people that charge $25-$30 I would be so mad if I paid that but then they didn't do a good job which is undoubtedly what will happen... or, even if they did do a good job, lets say I paid $100 for someone to clean my house. Wouldn't I rather do it myself and keep the money? Probably... grrrr. I charge $20-25 depending on the job, what if I just wrote myself a check at the end and went shopping? That would be fun too... who knows.

We'll see what happens. In the mean time, here are a few adds I found that really cracked me up. I guess I won't take out the contact info since they are public and all... Here you go:

I am willing to pay a beautiful woman to help around the house. I have so much work to do and I have no one to help me clean. I am single, no kids, but I can't keep my house kept up. If you are attractive and want the job. Please send pictures to this email and we will set up the interview. This is not a scam. This is a real, great paying job.

The lady who supposedly owns A&A is not someone you want knocking at your door. She looks horrible, has no teeth and airs out all her dirty laundry to her clients. Not someone I trust in my house
